Meet Our Team

Dr Robert W. Orr, M.D., F.A.C.C.
Dr. Orr did his medical residency at New York Medical College-Cabrini Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City and his fellowship at the State University of New York in Buffalo, New York.

He was one of the original founders of New Hampshire Cardiology Consultants in Manchester, New Hampshire where he eventually became president of the group. He served as director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory and director of the ICD program.

Dr. Orr was involved in teaching of medical students as well as paramedics. He was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. In addition to his clinical practice, he was involved with television including live medical talk shows and was a regular on the local news, as well as multiple commercials both locally and internationally.

He relocated to southern California in 2007 and has opened up his own practice at California Coastal Cardiology in Vista. His professional interests include heart failure, ICD and pacer implantation and follow up, heart disease in women, lipid management and peripheral vascular disease.

With over 50 years combined experience, the medical staff at California Coastal Cardiology, is highly qualified to meet all your cardiac care needs. Our staff continuously learns new technology and updated procedures, which means higher quality care for each and every one of our patients.

Marja Hanks, NP-C
Marja is a Board certified family nurse practitioner specializing in cardiology. Her primary objective is to empower her patients through information and education. She is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the California Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association.

A native of Washington State, Marja Hanks received her undergraduate degree from Pacific Lutheran University in 2002. She worked at the University of Washington Medical Center in intensive care for two years before moving on to work as a travel nurse specializing in critical care. She has worked in many prestigious facilities in New York, Los Angeles, and San Diego.

Marja received her Masters degree in nursing at the University of California, Los Angeles in 2008. While there she was elected to the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Following graduation, she worked as a cardiovascular nurse practitioner in Orange County, with a special interest towards disease prevention.

Sheri, C.V.T.
Sheri has been a Certified Cardiovascular Technologist for more than 20 years. She is highly proficient with Stress Echo, Echocardiogram, Carotid Ultrasound and Abdominal Ultrasound. Sheri is also certified in EECP Therapy and CIMT (determines vascular age). In addition, Sheri manages our mobile echocardiography testing.

Ashley, M.A.
Ashley is a certified Medical Assistant with additional certifications in Advanced Life Support, EECP Therapy, Peripheral Vascular Disease Testing and phlebotomy. She is extremely proud and honored to be a part of your healthcare team.

Angie, M.A.
Angie is a certified Medical Assistant with additional certifications in Advanced Life Support, phlebotomy and is bi-lingual (English/Spanish). She is a highly valuable member of your healthcare team.

Support Staff

In addition to all the wonderful medical personnel, California Coastal Cardiology has an excellent support staff. They are always available to answer questions related to authorizations, referrals and other insurance related issues, as well as other non-medical related concerns.

Shellee, Business Manager/Concierge Coordinator
Shellee has been in Healthcare Administration for many years. She has dedicated her career to recognizing that each life is a gift and should be treated with dignity and respect. By coordinating various facets of the healthcare process for patients and medical staff, Shellee ensures that all needs are met in the most caring and expedient way possible.
